Air source heat pumps will be the main heating source of domestic homes and commercial properties within the next few years.
IMPORTANT: Air source heat pumps work more efficiently at lower temperatures than standard boilers. The heating system needs to be designed correctly for you to maximise the savings and minimise running costs. The surface area on the radiators that you have in rooms around the property most likely won’t be big enough to give the correct heat output when paired with a heat pump. If they are not replaced, then the heat pump may over work trying to heat the rooms where radiators are not changed. In order to design the system correctly a heat loss calculation survey is necessary. The survey will ensure that the heat pump is sized correctly to fully meet your home’s heating and hot water demand. It will determine which radiators need upgrading and help us design a system that is efficient, as well as help us to estimate the renewable heat incentive payments you may receive.

There are many makes and models of heat pumps that can be utilised for different types of properties so that they meet the space, heat and hot water demand for that individual property. Heat pumps can work at high temperatures, they are able to heat older type properties with less insulation or larger properties. Each installation is bespoke, the heat design will determine what size and type of heat pump is needed for the heat demand. The technical survey, heat loss calculations and heat design will show what solution and option will be suitable.
SolumGB insists that every property has a complete technical survey (and a new EPC if required) before any formal quote is given. The technical survey would be undertaken by an independent qualified professional who is also a qualified EPC inspector.
